The University of Pittsburgh has recently run tests on several aging women discussing the effects osteoporosis has on their feet. It has been discovered that these women are likely to suffer foot fracture complications however not so much for an ankle break. Elder women are supposedly thought to have a radical threat of having a foot and ankle fracture.
A group of 10,000 women aged 65 and older were surveyed and tested by walking a certain distance. The team then pursued to look for those who went on to have a foot or ankle fracture. Those who were more likely to have a foot fracture are to of had osteoporosis, over 50, and were older and less physically active. Younger, overweight, and more physically active were to have ankle fractures.
